So i've deleted a couple of spam bots off the forum, and altered the CAPTCHA settings to make it a little visually harder to decode the registration page. If this doesn't work i'll change it over to something a little harder. Eg, Registration page will show a silhouette image of something and then you've gotta identify what it is..

I can turn on the Email Authorisation to slow them down a bit.

I wonder who creates these things? We should find out who it is and go kick their ass.

I like the idea of the image and we have to figure out what it is so the damn bots can't figure it out. If it lowers their chances its worth it right?

I remember back in 2002 when the Ki Sanctuary first started getting big, I had an older forum where I made a rule that the members had to send an email requesting to join to prevent spam.

I know that's extreme, but we could post an email of one of us on the main site if things are getting too out of control, and then have them say what they'd like their username to be and so on and so forth.

Just an idea, but it's a bit of a hassle and may scare some members off.

We just had about 20 spams on each of the forums, I just deleted the user by ip and deleted the posts.... I guess we'll have to clamp down some more, I can always write up an accesslist if need be later.

I don't have time to do it right now, but we should incorporate the "Prime Anti-Bot" into our forum registration page. Basically asks random questions and then you answer them, can be edited to whatever you want.

That sounds like a good idea, but I always thought the picture way was better because bots can't see a picture? If you put questions, will they work better at keeping bots away? Also is guest posting disabled?
