An old school boxer has challenged Randy "The Natural" Courture to a fight, August 28th in Boston. This guy is nicknamed "Lights Out" and is a heavyweight champ. But the question is, does he have what it takes to take down a seasoned MMA fighter like Courture?

We all clearly know the effectiveness of boxing. MMA has a much wider range of techniques though, and if "Lights Out" is limiting himself to just boxing, he'd better hope he takes Courture out before he's taken to the ground.

What do you guys think - is "Lights Out" going to put down Courture, or is he getting in way over his head thanks to his ego?

I think that MMA is better than pure punching. An effective fight should consists of flexible styles like dodging and grabbing the boxer's hand. It still depends on the fighters themselves.

A good fighter won't limit themselves to anything. I'm a boxer but I still knee, side kick and elbow my way to a victory. Having a wide variety of techniques and education in styles makes you a much more effective fighter.

This guy says he doesn't like the sport, but he also is not limiting himself to just boxing and has done some grappling of his own - we'll just have to see how good he does.

The only problem is I'm going to be doing field training during his fight, is there any way someone can get a video of the live footage and post it here for when I get back? I'll be going to the field August 5th to September 30th so I won't have internet access.

I have a feeling James Toney is in trouble. We will see what happens.

Yeah, he seemed REALLY arrogant. However it's nice to see some flamboyant and colorful personalities in the ring, keeps things from getting too boring. He also had a good sense of humor.

Boxers have the weirdest voices, don't they? Mike Tyson had a weird ass voice too, he sounded like a geek but he could kill anyone just about.
